New iMac and MacBook Pros expected before month’s end

  • With a little over a week to go until the end of October, Apple is reportedly set to unveil new pieces of hardware this month.
  • According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will unveil new models of iMac and MacBook Pro.
  • Both lineups are due for an upgrade, with the last new iMac being unveiled in April 2021.

If you have been hankering for new Apple hardware, we could see updated versions of the company’s iMac and MacBook Pro models see the light of day before this month comes to an end.

This according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who is a reliable source when it comes to anything involving the Cupertino-based company and its consumer-focused products.

Gurman notes that we could see the new hardware unveiled on either the 30th or 31st October, although at the time of writing, Apple has not made mention of an upcoming event. As such, the announcements may be a little more subdued than the usual pomp and circumstance that Apple reserves for the debut of a new iPhone series for example.

“Apple retail stores are in short supply of the iMac, as well as the 13-inch MacBook Pro and high-end MacBook Pro — two other models that may be due for a refresh. If you try to order the products from Apple’s website, several configurations won’t arrive until mid-November. That several-week delay is a clear sign that something is about to happen,” Gurman wrote as a possible hint of the impending announcements.

“I believe the Mac announcement will take place on either the 30th or 31st of this month. Apple is holding earnings on Nov. 2. It will be the first time since 2018 that the company posts its quarterly results in November (usually it occurs in late October). The last time this happened, the earnings followed an iPad and Mac event on Oct. 30,” he added in reference to new iMac and MacBook Pro offerings.

As Engadget points out, the prospect of a new iMac might be a bigger draw this time around, especially as the last update for the series of products was in April of 2021.

We should then see an updated 24″ iMac before the end of October, with it likely sporting the latest silicon from the company. As for the MacBook Pro side of things, a refreshed 13″ notebook is anticipated.

With Apple’s foundry now churning out chips at an impressive rate, the updates to different product lineups appear to be happening with increasing regularity.
