The new national anthem? Rather power silently with EcoFlow

South Africans have become accustomed to many annoying noises over the years. The screech of the Hadada, the hooting of the taxis and, most recently, the drone of the generator during loadshedding. The prevalence of generator noise has become such a fixture of local life that a recent advert joked that this would become the new national anthem of the country.

The unfortunate truth of that joke is that you likely hear a generator running more often than you hear the national anthem, either as others in the neighbourhood have one running, or from your own generator. Even if where you live is free from this noise there’s no escaping it as businesses usually have one running in the echo chamber of underground parking.

With many believing that the only other option to power through loadshedding is a UPS, EcoFlow has hit the scene with an option that is the best of both worlds: the Portable Power Station.

As the name suggests these portable units are your own personal power station. Utilising high-quality LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries, think of a Portable Power Station as the world’s strongest power bank, but instead of charging up just your phone or tablet, it can power your entire home or business.

EcoFlow offers many Portable Power Stations in South Africa to suit your needs and your budget, and on the serious end of the scale is the DELTA 2. With a simply enormous 1 024 WH battery, this Portable Power Station can power large electronics – thanks to its array of full size wall plugs – for several hours.

A TV can be kept live for up to eight hours, a fridge between seven and 14 hours depending, on the size, a fan for 17 hours and lights for a whopping 58 hours. Returning to the power bank analogy, the DELTA 2 can recharge a phone 89 times, and a laptop 16 times.

And, of course, the DELTA 2 does all this all while avoiding the worst parts of a petrol or diesel generator. There’s no fumes, no need to maintain complicated moving parts, no filling it up with expensive fuel, and no worries about incorrectly using an expensive piece of loadshedding equipment – just plug it in and go.

There’s also none of the noise that generators are now so known for.

Even compared to the alternate electronic option, a UPS, and the DELTA 2 comes out on top. The UPCS components are expensive on their own and this expense goes up as professional installation is needed for the complicated system of wiring. Once installed this is a permanent fixture so your power needs have to be certain at the point of purchase, or you may find you have too much or too little power on tap. Then, should you move, this expensive investment has to stay behind.

The DELTA 2 is not only a cheaper upfront option, but its portability means that you can take it with you. This is great for moving homes but it has so many other applications such as camping, off-grid living, event hosting and more.

And for size that large 1 024 WH battery can even be expanded on with extra batteries to boost to 2048Wh or, with the DELTA Max Extra Battery, an even more impressive 3040Wh.

The EcoFlow DELTA 2 Portable Power Station is available in South Africa right now with an unbeatable five-year warranty.

While South Africans look at the EcoFlow DELTA Portable Power Station as an answer to loadshedding, don’t overlook its many other uses that it brings to the table, especially when paired with solar panels. Combining the DELTA 2 with the wide range of EcoFlow solar panels makes you even more independent from the shaking South African power grid, and you save money charging your DELTA 2 this way. EcoFlow is also breaking the misconceptions around slow solar as the DELTA 2 can charge from solar panels in just three to six hours thanks to the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm.
