• MTN has announced the launch of affordable large-volume data deals for prepaid customers.
• Called the “MTN Super data price plan,” customers can buy 200GB of data, valid for 30 days, at R399.
• Compared to prepaid bundles at the same volume from MTN, you can save up to R600 on mobile data but will have to migrate to another plan for free.

Hot on the heels of Black Friday last week, today MTN South Africa has announced the launch of new large data bundle deals for its customers at more affordable prices.

The telecom, the largest on Africa, says that the creation of these data deals is due to an overwhelming demand it is seeing for larger data bundles. It adds that the new bundle plans, for prepaid customers, is called the “MTN Super data price plan” and is a “tailored, data-rich offering for our Prepaid customers who live their lives ‘on the gig’.”

Basically, the deals are for heavy data users, who either work from home or on the go. They have volumes that range from 30GB to up to 200GB and are more affordable than similar data plans from MTN, and have longer validity periods, which in this case is 30 days per bundle.

For example, other prepaid monthly data deals of the same volume from MTN can run up to R999 for 100GB plus 100GB, so these Super data price plans are quite well priced.

“This aligns with our commitment to providing solutions that best meet customer needs and enable everyone to enjoy the benefits of a modern connected life,” says Seun Soladoye, General Manager Prepaid Segment at MTN SA.

To access these bundles customers will have to migrate to the MTN Super Data price plan. You can migrate to this plan for free right now through USSD (*137#) or on the MTN app.

“Currently available to prepaid customers, the MTN Super Data price plan bundles are designed to broaden the channel offering for high volume bundles while providing increased convenience and flexibility to customers, as the bundles have no contractual commitment,” MTN explains in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“Our Super Data price plan bundles offer all the benefits of contractual data volumes with the flexibility of being Prepaid. The price plan is currently available on USSD and the MTN App,” adds Soladoye.   

MTN adds that the Super Data plans will also be available by default for Prepaid MiFi/router customers, replacing BozzaGigs. The perks on this default plan are below:
