We could see Rockstar reveal GTA VI later this week

  • Bloomberg is reporting that Rockstar Games will reveal key details about GTA VI this week.
  • The highly anticipated game is also expected to debut a trailer next month, with the annual Game Awards being the perfect platform.
  • One of new elements being introduced in GTA VI is the choice of two protagonists.

If you have been anxiously waiting on tasty morsels regarding GTA VI, Rockstar Games is reportedly readying to divulge some details later this week.

This according to a report from Bloomberg (paywall), which claims that the developer wants to officially announce the game’s arrival.

Last year, gameplay footage of a purported version of GTA VI leaked online after the developer was hacked, but Rockstar is yet to comment on said footage, or indeed whether what was shown will be a part of its upcoming instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

During said leak, the 90 seconds of footage showed two protagonists in the midst of a robbery attempt, which is quite similar to the way that GTA V kicks off in its tutorial beginning. The footage also showcased the names of one of the protagonists, a woman named Lucia, which potentially means that players will be able to switch between the two leads, which is another mechanic from GTA V.

It is also expected that the next instalment in the franchise heads back to Vice City, a fictional version of Miami, although which decade it will be set, remains unclear.

Along with the details reportedly set to be shared later this week, a trailer is expected for Grand Theft Auto VI sometime next month. December coincides with Rockstar’s 25-year celebration of the franchise, while the now annual Game Awards are taking place on 7th December, and would be the perfect platform to showcase a trailer for such a highly anticipated title.

Either way, with more GTA action on the cards for next year (launch window unconfirmed), we could already have our contender for 2024’s game of the year sewn up, if Rockstar’s previous efforts are anything to go by.
