HP goes all in debuting eight new AI-focused laptops

  • HP has this week unveiled what it calls the “industry’s largest portfolio of AI PCs”.
  • The lineup includes eight new laptops, with four in its Elite/Pro series and four under its workstation-esque Z brand.
  • HP also introduced its AI creation center for those wanting to develop AI-powered solutions.

HP has this week unveiled a wide-ranging lineup of laptops with AI in mind. This is in keeping with an industry trend among laptop makers, many of which have debuted new devices and hardware with AI capabilities baked in or with the processing power to handle AI-related tasks.

The same rings true with HP, which has debuted eight new laptops which it has dubbed as the “industry’s largest portfolio of AI PCs”.

While it is difficult to confirm whether that is indeed a true statement, eight new offerings all designed with AI in mind is a sizeable lineup. Here HP has divided up with eight laptops into two distinct offerings – its EliteBook/ProBook and ZBook ranges.

The latter is perhaps the most intriguing of the two, as the Z brand is the company’s workstation-esque range of products and designed for developers and industry specialists in particular.

“The newest generation of AI HP ZBook mobile workstations tackle the challenges of mobile work yet maintain the necessary collaboration tools for executing large, complex projects from anywhere. Offering a broad range of CPUs including Intel Core Ultra 5, 7 and 9 processors or next-generation AMD Ryzen PRO processors with dedicated NPUs, ZBook helps unlock new levels of productivity and creativity through AI,” outlines the company in a press release.

The new Book offerings include:

  • ZBook Power G11 – A 16” laptop with pro-grade components for running AI development and conceptual design applications. It features up to an NVIDIA RTX 3000 Ada Laptop GPU to handle 3D modelling, AI-powered content creation, and heavy multitasking.
  • ZBook Fury G11 – Designed to enable AI acceleration for editing 8K videos, advanced 3D rendering, VFX, as well as tuning and running local AI models. It can be specced in up to a desktop-class Intel Core HX processor and up to an NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada Laptop GPU.
  • ZBook Studio G11 – Productivity in a more portable form factor, it powers AI capabilities for content creation tools, rendering in real-time, and visualising data.
  • ZBook Firefly G11 – It enables seamless project management and is equipped with AI-accelerated performance via the NVIDIA RTX A500 Laptop GPU onboard, as well as dynamic power efficiency for better battery life.

Shifting to the EliteBook/ProBook options, HP says that, “the series is designed to deliver a seamless blend of portability, performance, and up to 21 hours of battery life for leaders and workers on the go. Harnessing the power of AI, users experience up to 80% better graphics performance, up to 38% less power for AI-enhanced collaboration, and up to 132% faster AI video editing compared to the previous generation.”

The new models here are the:

  • EliteBook 800 and 805 Series G11 – Equipped with Intel Core Ultra 5 and 7 processors or next-generation AMD Ryzen PRO processors for AI-driven productivity. These PCs contain at least 75 percent PCR plastic in the bezel.
  • HP EliteBook 600 and 605 Series G11 – These laptops are designed to tackle demanding business applications and contain at least 30 percent PCR plastic in the bezel and at least 50 percent PCR plastic in the keycaps.
  • HP ProBook 400 and 405 Series G11 – Purpose-built for hybrid workers and capable of unlocking AI-powered workflows while offering upgradeable storage and memory. The series contains 50 percent post-industrial recycled stamped aluminium in the chassis.
  • HP Elite Small Form Factor 805 G9 – Engineered for cloud-based AI applications like Copilot in Windows with Wi-Fi 7 capability and an optional integrated NPU in select models with Ryzen AI, including AMD Radeon RX 6300 2GB graphics, or NVIDIA T400 4GB discrete graphics.

At the time of writing a specific local launch date and pricing are yet to be detailed by HP, but many of the above offerings are expected in April/May in selected regions. With the AI race now on in terms of the laptop space, it looks like HP wants to have as many options available for consumers as possible.
