SPEEDRUN – Doom scrolling through Easter

The week preceding a long weekend has always felt like a slog and that’s made even more true given the slight reprieve Human Rights day offered last week.

Speaking of human rights – war. On Monday Luis Monzon detailed his horrifying experience watching an attack on concertgoers in Moscow unfolding in real-time on social media. It’s hard to pull your eyes away from a war and the horrors of the world when it occupies every inch of your timeline.

China and the US are embroiled in a war only this one has seen both governments banning the sale or use of products made in the other’s country. The latest victims of this war are Intel and AMD which can no longer be installed in PCs used by Chinese government offices above the township level.

Also in the news on Monday, retailers are expected to increase revenue by R2.2 billion over Easter, Lenovo wants to lead the AI-ready PC market and the Department of Innovation and Science and the United Nations Development Programme launched a new fund.
