Work is complicated, your notebook choice doesn’t have to be

With a new year firmly on its way, the same requirements for business and school pop up again. If you are in the market for a new notebook to get that work done, look no further than the May notebooks from local company RCT.

The RCT May is a 14-inch notebook which is a perfect balance between screen size and portability. This gives you plenty of room to work on just about anything – even those huge spreadsheets with endless numbers – without the irritating need to keep zooming in like on some smaller displays.

You can look forward to a full HD 1920 X 1080 resolution which looks extremely crisp at 14 inches. On top of this RCT has gone with a higher quality IPS panel. If you have never experienced IPS in person, you can look forward to an upgrade in just about every area compared to VA and TN panels which many screens have been using. Better colours, more accurate reproductions of content, increased contrast and more.

Again this clarity really helps with work so that your text and images are accurate and easy to see, but it also means that the RCT May is no slouch for when you’re off the clock and want to enjoy some streaming.

At just 1.39 kilograms and with the 14-inch screen, this notebook is definitely made with portability in mind, but RCT hasn’t skimped on the usability. Both the keyboard and trackpad make maximal use of the space on the other side of the device for better ergonomics. We love to see full size arrow keys here as these are some of the first to be shrunken down on notebooks. These smaller keys do save space but at the expense of being easy to use. If you already have muscle memory built up using these keys to fly through spreadsheets and documents, then you don’t need to relearn anything here.

We’re also glad to see the default operating system experience, Windows 10, arriving pre-loaded on this device. The operating system is stored on a 128GB SSD for better boot times and overall speed in all applications. This is paired with 4GB of RAM and Intel’s i3-1005G1 processor making the RCT May a capable notebook for most productivity tasks.

Powering all of the RCT May’s features is a 5 000 mAh battery that will net you between four and five hours of life depending on your use case. With higher stages of loadshedding plaguing South Africa so early in the year, a new notebook with a fresh battery that can last that long is a welcome bit of news.

The May notebook is available directly from RCTzone where you’ll find even more RCT products at amazing prices.

Features such as a card reader, an audio jack and an Ethernet port are all options that other manufacturers have been removing from their devices over the last few years. On a notebook, it also means you can leave the dongles and extra attachments at home.
