WWDC 24 set for 10th June

  • Apple has announced the dates for this year’s WWDC developer conference.
  • It will run from 10th to 14th June with the keynote set for the first day.
  • The Cupertino-based company is set to highlight developments across its software platforms including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.

With last year’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) introducing the pricey Vision Pro headset to frenzied Apple fans, expectations are high for this year’s event. To that end the Cupertino-based company has detailed the dates for WWDC 24, which is slated for 10th to 14th June this year.

At the time of writing, rumours are not churning regarding an update for the Vision Pro headset, but we could see some refreshes to existing peripherals, such as Apple’s over-ear AirPod Max headphones.

On the software side of things, Apple is expected to focus heavily on AI, as many other players in the industry have. We have already detailed news on AI capabilities coming to the latest iteration of iOS, but the other software ecosystems are also anticipated to receive some attention at WWDC 24 this June.

“Free for all developers, WWDC24 will spotlight the latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS advancements. As part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to helping developers elevate their apps and games, the event will also provide them with unique access to Apple experts, as well as insight into new tools, frameworks, and features,” the company noted in a press release.

“Developers and students will be able to discover the latest Apple software and technologies by tuning into the keynote, and they can experience WWDC24 throughout the week on the Apple Developer appApple Developer website, and YouTube. This year’s conference will include video sessions and opportunities to engage with Apple designers and engineers and connect with the worldwide developer community,” it added.

While hardware has become a big fixture at WWDC events in recent years, this 2024 one could see a return to software being the headliner, especially with Apple wanting to keep pace with its competitors in the generative AI race.

As we get closer to the event, more details will likely surface for WWDC 24.
