OPPO launches its second tablet in SA – the Pad Neo

  • OPPO has announced that its latest tablet, the Pad Neo, is now available to purchase in South Africa.
  • This is the second tablet that the company has launched locally, and is part of an expanded ecosystem of IoT-focused devices.
  • The Pad Neo boasts up to 14.5 hours of video playback and 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging.

OPPO has this week announced the local availability of a new tablet to its growing lineup of products – the Pad Neo.

It is the second tablet that the company has launched in South Africa, and is aimed at showcasing an ever-expanding range of IoT-focused devices, which includes the recently unveiled Watch X.

“At OPPO, our priority is always to bring new innovative devices that take productivity and play to the next level at an affordable price. The Pad Neo is a great addition to this ecosystem and is a significant milestone for us. With seamless connectivity, multitasking capabilities, and reliability, the Pad Neo delivers on all fronts,” highlighted Liam Faurie, head of Go-to Markets at OPPO South Africa, regarding the new device.

In terms of what this new offering sports, up front a 11.4″ 2.4K high-resolution touch display is present. Designed for serious content consumption, OPPO has enhanced the Pad Neo’s screen with eye health technology that specifically reduces blue light exposure by over 40 percent.

Sticking with content consumption, the Pad Neo features a large 8 000mAh battery that delivers up to 14.5 hours of battery life. Added to this is 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging technology, although it’s unclear how long it takes to yield a fully charged battery.

Other notable features include an octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 processor to do the heavy lifting, which is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

Also if you’re one of those people that likes to use a tablet to take pictures, an 8MP lens is found on the rear and up front, with the latter supporting up to 1080p video at 30fps.

Aiding both videoconferencing and content consumption once again is a quad stereo speaker setup and Dolby Atmos. “Four speakers strategically placed around the device and advanced audio technology that goes beyond traditional surround sound create a more realistic and immersive audio environment for the user,” adds OPPO in a release shared with Hypertext.

As for pricing, the recommended price tag on the new OPPO Pad Neo is R6 999, with it available at most local technology retailers in Space Grey.

If you are keen on seeing more smartphones from OPPO, the brand is gearing up for a busy second half of 2024, which should include a new Reno series. You can read more about it in our recent interview with OPPO SA training manager, Bradley Young, below.
