Loadshedding is getting off to an early start this morning as Eskom declares Stage 2 rotational power cuts will start at 08:00.
The reason given for the power cuts is, once again, a shortage of capacity.
As such loadshedding is expected to last through until 23:00 this evening.
“Stage 2 calls for 2000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period. Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout,” Eskom explained.

Eskom is starting at Stage 2 immediately today which is concerning. On Thursday Eskom began loadshedding at Stage 1 rather late in the morning before upgrading to Stage 2 at 15:00.
We recommend checking the loadshedding schedules and trying to plan your day around the power outages.
