- DC Comics characters Dreamer and The Batman Who Laughs are available again.
- Rumours state that new DC heroes are on the way.
- Godzilla’s Titan Takedown event ends on 31st January.
Back at the start of December 2024, Epic Games announced that cosmetics based on DC Comics characters would be made available for purchase again after many of them had not been around for months or even years. This rollout has been quite slow, but the latest re-addition has happened today with The Batman Who Laughs and Dreamer.
Like most cosmetics The Batman Who Laughs can be bought in a bundle for a reduced price or his skin, Glider and Pickaxe can all be purchased separately. Dreamer, on the other hand, bucks this trend with only the single Outfit available. We have to imagine that there isn’t a huge demand for real money cosmetics based on the lesser-known character of Dreamer so this makes sense.
While it’s always nice for old cosmetics to return so more people can have access to them, we’re more excited about rumours of new comic-based cosmetics in the future. According to rumours from some reliable Fortnite fan accounts, Superman, Red Hulk, and the Falcon are on the way.
Now Superman has been in Fortnite before (he canonically uses a Batman skin), that version was a generic Man of Steel created for Fortnite. This new Superman would be based on David Corenswet and the upcoming new movie he stars in. Red Hulk and Falcon, of course, come from Captain America: Brave New World which releases next month.
We’ll have to wait and see if these rumours hold any water in the coming weeks.
What we do have official word on, sadly, is the removal of the Titan Takedown limited time event in the Fortnite Battle Royale mode. For those who haven’t seen it yet: Titan Takedown allows a single player in certain matches to become Godzilla, complete with terrifying power and the ability to easily kill regular players. Said regular players can make use of special weapons to aim for Godzilla’s weak spots and take the lizard out.
After a frustrating launch due to Godzilla being quite rare, Epic Games gave players a 100 percent chance of his appearance in all Battle Royale games over the weekend. While this has now ended, Godzilla spawn rates will remain boosted until 31st January when Titan Takedown will be removed from the game.
This is a real shame as Titan Takedown’s inclusion in game has been a lot of fun and, for the unlucky ones like us, we still haven’t had a chance to play as Godzilla despite grinding out lots of games. The random nature of the Godzilla spawn point, and the fact that everyone wants to grab it, makes it a difficult challenge.
We hope Titan Takedown isn’t gone forever and can return in the future. We’d love a permanent mode outside of the Battle Royale where the focus is on fighting as/against Godzilla, or the inclusion of its mechanics into creative maps so the community can use these unique mechanics as they see fit.
