The PS Plus games revealed for October 2023

  • Three new PS Plus games have been revealed for October 2023.
  • The Callisto Protocol headlines this Spooktober, followed by Farming Simulator 22 and Weird West.
  • Subscribers have until 2nd October to download last month’s PS Plus games.

Sony has unveiled the three games that will be made available to download at no extra charge for subscribers of PlayStation (PS) Plus in October. Last month it was all about open-world as Saint’s Row (2022) headlined a lineup that was rounded out by MMO-RPG Black Desert, and third-person team shooter Generation Zero.

These three games will be available until 2nd October 2023, after which you will no longer be able to download them for free. However, from that date comes three new games to PS Plus.

The surprisingly popular Farming Simulator 22 opens the lineup, according to a PlayStation blog post. This is exactly what it says on the tin. You get to build a farm in your choice of three American or European environments using a huge variety of actual real-life agriculture equipment and machinery from brands like CLAAS, John Deere, New Holland, Valtra and many more.

It’s all about simulation with this one, so if you’ve ever fantasised about owning a farm and dealing with all the trials and tribulations that brings like keeping crops alive during different seasons, raising animal and more, give Farming Simulator 22 a try.

Every month PlayStation includes an indie title in the PS Plus lineup, and this October we’re getting Weird West – a dark fantasy RPG set in a grim western setting. This title from publisher Devolver Digital promises isometric mayhem the likes of which are rare nowadays.

“The game supports different styles of play in a simulated sandbox world where characters, factions, and even places react to a player’s decisions, and players are faced with brutal choices and consequences that can’t be undone – including death,” explains PlayStation about Weird West.

Choices matter in your journey, or journeys as you will get to play as different characters, learn their origin and piece together a larger, weirder story.

Finally, the Dead Space-like The Callisto Protocol headlines October’s PS Plus games bringing a spooky feel to Halloween month. This survival horror sees you, as Jacob Lee, battle your way through a massive prison on one of Jupiter’s moons when the inmates start turning into necromorphs nondescript monstrous creatures.

“To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto. Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat, Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter’s Dead Moon,” the blog reads.

All three games this month are available to download on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
