[HANDS-ON] Agent Unseen – A South African sneak-em-up

An early highlight on the show floor here at the rAge expo at the Northgate Dome is an early build of this locally develoeped gem, Agent Unseen. It’s a deceptively simple top-down Rogue-like game, in which you control a tiny special agent blob moving between shadows to avoid deadly armed guard blobs.

You do this by flitting between shadows in jrandomly generated levels. Takedowns are performed with a low range taser, if you can get close enough, and random pick-ups include pistols and hearing aids to further your aims.

And what, you may ask, are those aims? At this stage they’re fairly simple. Move to a coloured area which represents a safe and hang around long enough to open it, plant evidence, escape. There are variations on the theme – level two is an assassination mission – but plans for later in development include a possible overarching storyline to pique the interest and keep you playing.

It’s very early days for the ev to be showing off a build, but all the basics are more or less there – the control system needs a bit of tuning, for example – but it’s definitely one to keep an eye on. And if you’re at rAge, have a play around with.

Watch it below, and you can download the current build here.
