Microsoft’s free game offerings for the Xbox have been rather luke warm over the last couple of months, but nonetheless we won’t thumb our nose at free games.

For January’s Games with Gold, Xbox One players with a valid Xbox Live subscription will be able to download Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition. From the 15th Janaury until 15th February, Zheros will be made available.

Xbox360 owners can download DiRT Showdown from 1 January until 15th January, after which the really excellent Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be free from 16 January through 31st January.

The game traditionally comes with just one playable character unlocked, but through the Ultra Edition, you will get access to all eight Season One characters, 16 additional character accessory packs, eight additional costumes, and a playable version of Killer Instinct Classic from ’94.

For those that don’t know, Zheros is a sidescroller.

“Beating folks up with a bunch of clever combos, tracking down secret areas, and some light platforming are at the core of Zheros. Set in a beautiful and futuristic universe with brightly colored graphics, a humorous cast of playable characters, and local co-op, Zheros is a must-play game to test out with your friends,” Microsoft wrote in a blog post.
