Some collaborations make sense. For instance, when Monster Energy Drink collaborates with Activision’s Call of Duty franchise, nobody bats an eyelid.
But this morning something came across our Twitter feed that was just, bizarre.
Le Creuset, the folks who make high-end cookware, have collaborated with Star Wars to create the Star Wars x Le Creuset Collection.
Introducing the @starwars x Le Creuset Collection, available for purchase November 1st exclusively at select Le Creuset boutique stores, online, and from @yuppiechef. Sign up to our newsletter to be notified when #StarWarsXLeCreuset goes live: https://t.co/I9ErhIUmoI pic.twitter.com/RLL8z28TN2

Cookware and Star Wars, what a time to be alive.
Anyway, our stunned confusion aside, Le Creuset has created a number of Star Wars themed products.
Our eye is squarely on the first of those, the round Darth Vader Dutch Oven/Casserole.
The Dutch Oven sports a gloss black exterior and the “France” that is traditionally embossed on to the lid’s underside has been translated into Aurebesh.
Next up is the Han Solo Carbonite Signature Roaster.
We’re immediately drawn to this roasting pan not because we’re old, but because it sports a lid that features Solo encased in Carbonite.
To wrap are three Mini Cocottes that carry paint jobs reminiscent of R2-D2, BB8 and C-3PO. Le Creuset has also created a Millennium Falcon and Death Star Trivet which can ironically be used to protect surfaces from heat damage.
Unfortunately, the Porg Pie Bird will not be available in South Africa.
The Star Wars x Le Creuset Collection will become available on 1st November through the Le Creuset website or through Yuppiechef.
Given that Le Creuset cookware is often incredibly expensive we suspect that these Star Wars themed pots and pans will add to that premium.
You can find out more about the collection over on the Le Creuset website.
Is this collaboration strange? Yes, very. Do we really want a Darth Vader Dutch Oven though? Also yes.
