After much waiting we get to see what Valiant Comics can offer the world of superhero movies as the first trailer for Bloodshot has been released.

The titular character is played by ham man extraordinaire Vin Diesel who… kind of just looks like Vin Diesel. If Bloodshot’s classic costume is going to make an appearance in this movie, we certainly don’t see it in the trailer.

While Diesel himself may look generic the trailer is on the interesting side, though we feel it reveals a bit too much. On the surface it’s the “hard man wants revenge” story, but the trailer does fill in why Diesel has his powers, who gave them to him, and what they’re using it for. Hit play on the video embedded below if you want some minor spoilers.

We know this is early days for the film but the CGI is a  mixed back. The effects of Bloodshot’s powers look decent, but then there’s the part where he falls out of a building and it looks like he’s made of rubber.

While the trailer doesn’t give a release date we should see the movie in cinemas come February of 2020, which isn’t too far away. If you want more of it to tide you over, the official site (succinctly called Bloodshot.movie), features a bit more, such as a synopsis and cast list.

At this point you may be thinking “wait, wasn’t Bloodshot cast ages ago as someone else?”, and you’d be correct. Jason David Frank, the actor best known from the Power Rangers franchise (especially the original Green Ranger), played Bloodshot before Vin Diesel. This role, however, was for the Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe web series.

Frank has been jockeying to play the character in a movie like this for some time now, and he definitely looks the part. The last time Frank was on the big screen he was a blink and you miss it cameo in the 2017 Power Rangers movie, accompanied by original Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson.
