The newest way to play Control is on Google Stadia

We may not hear much about Google Stadia nowadays, but it’s still kicking around and this week it gets one of our favourite games from the past few years in the form of Control.

The Ultimate Edition of the game is now available on Google’s game streaming platform. As a reminder the Ultimate Edition includes the two main expansions for the game – The Foundation and AWE – as well as all the other smaller content added to the game since its original release in August 2019.

To mark the occasion we have a launch trailer embedded at the bottom of this post. The trailer combines previously-released trailers, cinematics from the game and accolades that Control has picked up over the years.

For those wondering the song in this trailer is Miami Showdown by Digitalism.

The award-winning third-person masterpiece Control Ultimate Edition arrives on Stadia today ! Terrifying mysteries, atmospheric exploration, and heart-stopping combat all await in a perfectly tuned package that redefines action-adventures. Purchase Control now in the Stadia store for $39.99 USD and see why critics and fans alike simply can’t stop talking about it,” reads the announcement on the Stadia community page.

Right now $39.99 converts to around R592. To put that price into perspective you can buy Control Ultimate Edition for R629 on Steam, R648 on the Epic Games Store, R719 on the PlayStation Store and R314.50 on the Microsoft Store for Xbox.

When looking at those prices it’s worth noting that, because Control has been out for a while, you can routinely find it on sale. That Microsoft Store price is a 50 percent off sale that ends in nine days, so you can get the game cheaper on any given platform if you wait a while and look around. At one point earlier this year the game was even 100 percent free on the Epic Games Store.

The thing is, even at the higher price points here, Control is definitely worth your money. That quote from the Stadia community page isn’t lying – we really can’t stop talking about this game and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who hasn’t played it yet.

While Stadia and its problems may not be the best platform to have this experience, it’s one worth considering and another avenue to enjoy this fantastic game.
