Cyberpunk 2077 getting its biggest patch yet and free DLC

On Tuesday evening CD Projekt Red hosted a live stream in which it revealed a number of fixes and quality of life improvements coming to Cyberpunk 2077 as part of patch 1.3.

If like us you were only interested in the free DLC, prepare yourself because while it might be free, it’s not really much to get excited about.

The free DLC coming along with patch 1.3 is:

  • An alternative appearance for Johnny Silverhand
  • Multilayered Syn-Leather Deltajock Jacket, Luminescent Punk Jacket of Rare/Iconic quality
  • Archer Quartz “Bandit” – A car that you can earn as a reward after completing Ghost Town

As for the patch itself, there are a lot of changes coming including improvements to the crafting system, tweaks to skills and many, many bug fixes.

To be frank it seems as if every main mission, side quest, gig and open world events has been fixed in some way whether it’s a game breaking bug that stopped progression or a minor quality of life change.

You can read the patch notes for patch 1.3 here.

The stream that announced this patch was an odd one.

The developers on the stream spent a long while talking about how difficult it is to patch a game which is live, comparing it to open heart surgery. As this was streamed live on Twitch, viewers were quick to point out that modders had fixed many of the bugs present in the game already.

The developers pointed out that mods aren’t accessible to everybody – which is accurate – and CD Projekt Red has to fix the game for every platform not just PC.

Despite this, the stream did feel rather defensive from CD Projekt Red and while you can sympathise with the fact that these folks are putting themselves in the line of fire by appearing on Twitch. However, one also has to sympathise with the players who purchased this game only to find a buggy mess that was quite frankly unplayable for many people.

Patch 1.3 doesn’t have a release date just yet but we hope that this is the start of more improvements to the game beyond bug fixes which is what seemingly every patch to date has encompassed.

You can watch the full stream here if you have an hour to kill.
