Later today Bungie will be hosting a live stream where it’s expected that the developer will showcase it’s next major expansion – The Witch Queen.
Ahead of that stream, Bungie released a short teaser which we’ve embedded below.
While it only clocks in at 15 seconds in length, the teaser showcases one of Destiny’s biggest bads, Savathûn the Witch Queen. This character has been teased since as far back as vanilla Destiny 2 but has become an integral part of the story Bungie is telling since Forsaken and the Dreaming City.
With Season of the Lost set to feature Mara Sov, the Awoken Queen, we suspect that many loose ends are being tied up ahead of Destiny 2’s conclusion in a few years’ time.
While players have had close encounters with the Hive God of deception before, we haven’t actually seen Savathûn until now. Our hope is that the next expansion will focus on her as Bungie did with Oryx in The Taken King expansion in Destiny.
Thankfully we don’t have to speculate for very long as the Bungie Showcase is happening today at 17:00 CAT. Well, technically the preshow starts at 17:00 CAT with the actual reveal only starting at 18:00 CAT.
This showcase should also touch on Season of the Lost, the next and final season ahead of The Witch Queen’s release which is slated for early 2022.
The showcase will be livestreamed on both Twitch and YouTube by Bungie but streamers can co-host. With that in mind we recommend clicking through the Destiny 2 directory on Twitch and joining a streamer for the reveal.

As a reminder, at 19:00 CAT today, when players log in, the name they sign in with will be their Bungie Name moving forward and names can’t be changed until Bungie launches a name change feature later this year.
One final reminder is that if you haven’t claimed rewards from the Season of the Chosen or Season of the Splicer, you can do so before 19:00 CAT. While Season of the Splicer gear can still be claimed, Season of the Chosen rewards will disappear at Weekly Reset. You can claim gear and items via the Bungie website here.
