Netflix is testing its gaming product in Poland

Just last month Netflix revealed that it was going to be entering the world of video games and now, true to its word, the firm is testing games in Poland.

This is according to the official Netflix Geeked Twitter account which revealed that on Thursday the firm had launched two games for its Polish subscribers.

Those games are Stranger Things 1984 and Stranger Things 3 which are mobile games but importantly don’t contain advertising, have no in-app purchases and are included with a Netflix membership.

For now the test is limited to Android users.

While The Next Web reports that both of the aforementioned games are available on on the Google Play Store, we haven’t been able to find them there, though that might be down to how Netflix distributes these games.

Those who had hoped that perhaps Netflix would adopt a Stadia approach to gaming will likely be disappointed by the news that mobile games are the only thing on the menu right now. While Netflix did say that it would be testing mobile games first, there is the possibility that the platform could function like Steam or the Epic Game Store in future.

For now games are free with a Netflix subscription in Poland but that could change in future. Given Netflix subscription rates are determined by the features, we have to think that the firm will charge a bit more for access to games.

As Netflix states, it’s still early on in this test so expect this offering to change substantially before it makes it to a wider audience.
