More than 100 titles now optimised for Dolby Vision on the Xbox Series X|S

This week and in the coming months, those with an Xbox Series X|S and compatible TV or monitor, will be able to experience over HDR 100 titles with Dolby Vision. This as Microsoft confirmed that optimised support is set to roll out for its next-gen consoles.

“Starting today, gamers with compatible Dolby Vision-enabled TVs will be able to enjoy full-spectrum visuals with the rollout of Dolby Vision gaming on Xbox Series X|S. With Dolby Vision, epic worlds – such as lush rainforests or neon futuristic cities – are brought to life in more vivid color,” the company explained on its Xbox Wire blog.

“To ensure a growing library of games are available, Dolby and Xbox are working together closely with developers to provide the tools they need so their titles can take full advantage of Dolby Vision,” it added.

One of the big upcoming titles that will boast the new visual standard is Halo Infinite, with the Xbox-exclusive currently slated for release on 8th December.

“There are more than 100 next-gen HDR titles optimized for Series X|S that will feature Dolby Vision, and in the future you’ll see more games like Halo Infinite taking full advantage of Dolby Vision,” the blog post enthused.

To see whether your TV supports Dolby Vision, Microsoft says you should, “Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Then go to Settings > General > TV & display options > 4K TV details.”

While the visual experience should no doubt be impressive on a new big budget AAA title like Halo Infinite, it will be interesting to see whether it can breathe new life into slightly older titles on the platform.

On that front, Dolby Vision is said to support other performance elements built-into the Xbox Series X|S, such as DirectX Raytracing, automatic low-latency mode (ALLM) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

There’s also talk of up to 120FPS depending on the capabilities of your TV, as Microsoft and Dolby are looking to collaborate more closely with manufacturers.

Either way, there is a new experience for those who a next-gen console to test out and potentially enjoy.
