We are now past the halfway mark for November and, over the past two weeks, the numbers regarding COVID-19 in South Africa have remained low.
How long this will be the case is unclear for now, especially as experts predict a fourth wave of infections to arrive at the end of the month as the country gets ready for the festive season to begin in earnest.
For now though, the numbers are relatively positive, with the latest report from the National Department of Health (NDoH) confirming that only 136 cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours. This figure usually picks up as the week progresses, but the interim shows no signs for concern.
As a result, the total number of infections recorded to date are now sitting at 2 926 075. The department also notes that five fatalities have been reported too in the past day too, as the death toll related to COVID-19 in South Africa has reached 89 489.
Looking at other key figures, the recovery still has not budged and continues at 96.4 percent, as it has done for the past couple of weeks now.
As for the vaccine rollout, the past 24 hours has seen 131 206 jabs administered at sites across the country. As of 17:00 on 15th November, a total of 24 082 686 vaccines have been administered, with an estimated 13 492 174 people fully vaccinated at this stage.
