Ridley Scott confirms Blade Runner TV series, with pilot already written

Iconic film director Ridley Scott is currently doing the rounds to promote his latest project – House of Gucci. With the director associated with several cult classics over the decades, he was invariably asked about his previous works – namely Blade Runner.

In fact, Scott confirmed during an interview with BBC Radio 4 (embedded below), that he has a pilot script for a Blade Runner Tv series ready and waiting. The director also has one for an Alien TV series, which is another iconic sci-fi property he is responsible for.

“We’re already into having written the pilot for Blade Runner, and the bible,” Scott noted during the interview. “So already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, which should probably be the first 10 hours, and then Alien is a similar thing. Alien is now being written for pilot,” he added.

For those wondering what a bible is, it is the framework for a screenwriting project that extends beyond what has been written, such as the background information on settings and characters that producers should take note of.

Unfortunately Scott did not detail much more about the project or whether there is nay interest.

Given that Blade Runner 2049 has a bit of cult status in its own right despite not being a box office success, there would no doubt be interest from the likes of Warner Bros. which has the rights to the franchise as they look to build out their roster of original content for HBO Max.

With the lore of the films rich for mining, a series delving into the world of replicants against the neon lit backdrop of a grungy futuristic city seems almost too good to pass up.

With an animated Blade Runner series having recently begun airing on TV, there is plenty of media to enjoy while the elements for the Scott project are being developed.
