Joe Danger has been remastered thanks to a father’s email

Before No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games was known for Joe Danger, a pair of games where players control a tiny stuntman taking on the world. Now the games are back thanks to an email from a fan.

Hello Games explains on Twitter that the impetus for bringing Joe Danger back was a mail sent to them by the father of an autistic boy who loves the games and leans on them as a support mechanism.

Unfortunately, due to an iOS update, the game was no longer available. Left with a message to contact the developer to try and set things right, that’s exactly what this father did.

You can read the father’s message here.

The remasters of Joe Danger and Joe Danger Infinity are already available on iOS for iPhones and iPads here it claims several upgrades over the originals including “a graphical overhaul and new engine”.

  • “Back in action! iOS 15, 64bit Architectures now supported!
  • ProMotion support
  • Better power performance with new optimized shaders
  • Beautiful image quality, higher resolution graphics, textures with antialiasing and Metal support.
  • Multitouch improvements
  • Extended Bluetooth controller support for Infinity
  • And much, much more including localisation updates.”

As paid games those who already owned the originals are not left out of the fun, instead receiving the updated version for free.

“Joe Danger was our first game when we were still four guys in a shed, trying to get noticed. Publishers weren’t interested, houses were even re-mortgaged to bring it to completion… Joe helped us get a break and it’s also where we learned to make games. It’s sad that games slowly rot and many disappear. Hopefully this gives Joe the happy life he deserves. We owe him that and more,” reads the Twitter account for Sean Murray / No Man’s Sky / Hello Games.

According to the official page for Joe Danger on the Hello Games Website it should also be available on Android, but it’s nowhere to be seen on the Google Play Store. Hopefully that is remedied in the future too.
