Unveiled globally in October of last year, now Huawei’s latest wearables are now available to purchase in South Africa. This as the Huawei Watch GT 3 has hit stores.

There are three models of device that make up the Huawei Watch GT 3 series, with the Watch GT 3 46mm, Watch GT 3 42mm and the Watch GT 3 Runner landing locally.

In terms of how these devices differ from previous iterations, Huawei highlights the fact that HarmonyOS 2.1 is present, representing an evolution of the company’s proprietary operating system.

We encountered the first iteration of HarmonyOS on the Huawei Watch 3 last year and while it proved a solid experience, there is certainly room for growth.

On that front, it looks like Huawei is leaning into the concept of digital health. Where its previous smartwatches were very much focused on battery life and tracking as many exercise and performance metrics as possible, the Watch GT 3 series is taking a more holistic approach top things.

“Health and fitness fans will be especially impressed by the smartwatches’ breakthroughs in health monitoring and scientific training. The heart rate monitoring technology, TruSeen 5.0+, is especially remarkable.
