We now have the final trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, but before we get into it, this really is one of those trailers that can be considered a spoiler for most of the movie, so if you want to go into the sequel completely blind it’s best to turn back now.

We know from previous trailers and marketing material that the Chaos Emeralds will be a big part of the movie, but it seems that the green one in particular will get a lot of screen time.

Now it could be the case that some editing trickery is going on here and the colours of the emeralds are being changed so it looks like only one of them is here.

Outside of that the trailer simply reveals way too many scenes and seems content to keep showing more and more in just the two and a half minutes. A wedding interrupted by Sonic and Knuckles, Robotnik returning, Robotnik seemingly obtaining superpowers, an armoured car chase, Robotnik’s mech and more.

It’s just a bit too much for a trailer and we’re sure a lot of people are going to groan at the Winter Soldier joke.

What we’re really interested in is how Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba, will go from this movie’s bad guy to the star of his own show.

Still it’s quite compelling and there’s really nothing here to dissuade us from seeing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and we can’t imagine any fans of the first movie will have a problem with what’s on offer here.

We’ve done this because the trailer hosted by Paramount Pictures ends with showing the release date of 8th April, which is only true for the US. In Europe – and in South Africa – the release date is actually a week earlier on 1st April so we get to see the movie earlier than those in America.
