PUBG celebrates 5th anniversary with a video, loot and music

Are you ready to feel your bones turn to dust? March 2022 represents five years since PUBG was first released into Early Access on Steam and really kicked off the battle royale craze that is still going on today.

To mark the occasion the game is having a 5th Anniversary blowout which includes several events and releases.

Before that, however, we do have to mention that they’re referring to players as “5urvivors” which is hilarious. This kind of branding will always remind us of the terrible 2015 reboot of the Fantastic Four which people still refer to as “Fantfourstic” because of the stylised way the movie’s title was written: Fant4stic.

Back to PUBG and the first of these is a commemorative items is video which you can watch in the embed below.

It gives a brief recap of the game over these past five years including its various maps, ports and updates. Developers who have worked on PUBG also briefly discuss how the game will go into the future.

The video also shows off some cosmetics that will be released as part of the anniversary celebrations.

Those celebrations have their own dedicated website accessible here which shows off everything players can expect.

There will be three special drops for players to collect loot. The first is awarded for simply logging into PUBG with rewards every day for ten days and an additional two rewards for login streaks at three and seven days. The yellow anniversary tracksuit seen in the video above is awarded on the very first day of login bonuses.

The second drop is for completing missions while playing with the legacy coat, also shown in the video, obtainable by exchanging mission points.

Finally the last drop is rewards for inviting friends to play the game.

The last release for these events, at least right now, is a playlist of the music used in the game over the years. This is all available as a Spotify playlist that we’ve embedded below.

The playlist contains 21 songs and lasts for 76 minutes.
