Community event, roadmap unveiled for Weird West

Isometric immersive sim shooter Weird West launched on 31st March and now it has been announced that post-launch content will be coming.

This starts with a community event simply called “The Plague” that is live now and will run for a limited time.

“Reports are rolling in from across the Weird West of a plague of undead rising from the grave! Worse, a terrible sickness seems to follow in their wake. Stay sharp, travelers,” the description of the event reads.

We can’t help but think of Undead Nightmare, the zombie-focused expansion of Red Dead Redemption. Then again anything mixing zombies and the Wild West will remind us of Undead Nightmare, so maybe it isn’t a fair comparison.

Along with this community event we also get a roadmap for future development of this game, but right now it’s rather vague.

You can see the roadmap in the header image above or at the end of the trailer below. This starts with The Plague community event happening right now and will be followed by a content pack, “Nimpossible Mode”, another event called “Caged Ones” and finally a mod. All of these will be free but no release window or further details are provided right now.

It seems developer WolfEye Studios is serious about supporting this game into the future as it has already received a big update before now in the form of 1.01. This update had a massive changelog (available here) that addressed many issues that players had at launch, including many quality of life improvements to make the overall experience better.

Weird West is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG and Humble). For Xbox and PC players it can also be had for no additional purchase through Game Pass. Now seems like a great time to jump in before The Plague event ends.
