Doctor Strange art contest offering world premiere tickets

Artists should take notice of a new contest spun up by Marvel which will see the winner attending the world premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness .

This is another fan art contest run by Marvel / Disney which is accepting entire until 15th April, so there’s still a decent amount of time to enter as we’re writing this.

Entry is rather simple and takes place entirely online:

  • Post your original artwork on Twitter and/or Instagram with #DoctorStrangeContest for a chance to win.
  • One entry per platform.
  • Contest will be judged under the criteria of style, originality/creativity and technical ability.
  • Must Be Following Marvel Studios and Doctor Strange Twitter and Instagram Accounts

Reading the official announcement page and it’s stated that the winner will be chosen by a Marvel Studios panel so it seems the people directly working on the MCU movies will be the ones who choose the winners.

The first place winner gets a two person trip to the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness world premiere and they must be available to travel to Los Angeles on 5th May and return on 7th May to attend.

The regular public release of the movie is on 6th May so it seems that they’re flying the winner and a plus one out for a weekend and not just a single day, though this isn’t all the winner gets.

“First Prize Winner receives Signed Doctor Strange Art from Ian Joyner (Marvel Studios’ Visual Development & Sr. Illustrator) and a signed Scarlet Witch piece of art from Andy Park (Marvel Studios’ Visual Development & Production Illustrator),” reads the contest page.

A second place winner will also be chosen but, as you may expect, their prize is much smaller and constitutes only “a gift card and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Swag”.

Now for the bad news: this contest isn’t open to everyone and is limited to America. As a South African site we’re still covering it as there’s value in watching the entries roll in as passive observers.

The #DoctorStrangeContest hashtags on Twitter and Instagram already have many great pieces from the community and they’re simply fun to look at while we wait for the movie.

As for the Americans considering entry we strongly suggest reading the contest information page here several times and taking note of all the rules and legal foibles.

Ownership of the art you create is an important topic for artists so make sure to read up on the terms of entering your work here.

We also have to laugh at some of the details in those terms, such as the fact that the endless Scrooge McDuck money vaults of Disney will only pay for coach tickets for the winner and their plus one.

There’s also the princely sum of $300 included here which isn’t mentioned elsewhere:
