Glorious PC Gaming Race is finally changing its name

You may have heard the phrase PC Master Race during your travels through the internet and you might even have seen a brand carrying a similar moniker in Glorious PC Gaming Race.

What made this rather problematic is that the idea of a “master race” is very much an ideology that Adolf Hitler held dear. Not really in the best of company then are we PC gamers.

Today, it seems Glorious PC Gaming Race has cottoned on to the fact that using terminology that Hitler may have used, isn’t the best idea. As such, the peripheral maker will now simply go by Glorious.

“The name was long and pretty weird, but it drew attention within a crowded industry dominated by some massive corporations,” the firm wrote in a blog post explaining its decision but not mentioning that the attention the moniker drew was largely negative.

The name change will be implemented on existing products “over a period of several years” so Glorious isn’t removing existing products for a rebrand. That having been said, the firm’s Model I mouse will be the last new product to contain the Glorious PC Gaming Race name and its GMMK 2 keyboard already bears the new Glorious branding.

The firm’s website – pcgamingrace.com – will also be migrated in the coming weeks.

This name change is a long time coming and highlights the risk you take when you decide to use a meme to name your company.
