Today is April Fools’ Day and while we usually see companies doing strange things only to reveal it as a joke later, the Among Us developers have instead made an entirely new mode that can only be played for one day called Horse Mode.
Yes, really.
As you may have guessed by the name Horse Mode has the now famous Among Us crewmates suddenly growing an extra pair of legs and a tail.
This idea was teased a year ago on Twitter and now it’s official wit Horse Mode boasting the following features:
- “Among Us Crewmates and Impostors reimagined as a more cursed four legged version of themselves
- A new “neigh” kill sound that is voiced by our programmer Gary. This was originally a joke filler sound we used until we could find a real horse sound to use. Then we realized it was much better this way.
- A new (anticlimatic) kill animation for Impostors
- Horsemates can only wear hats and visors for this update
- This mode was made as a joke side project so there might be some janky visuals.”
As mentioned this is only available for a single day so get your fill before 2nd April rolls around.
There is an actual update to the game also implemented today, so it’s not just meme content.
Several changes have been made to the Friends List feature for update v2022.3.29 of the game on all platforms. Players now have a unique friend code that can be used to add friends, create lobbies, block players and more.
The update also brings with it a small problem as linking and unlinking accounts has been temporarily removed and is being fixed right now.
Finally there’s a bevvy of new cosmetics items that are available in the game until 30th April. These are all crossovers with Scream, Halo and Ratchet & Clank represented. Scream is platform agnostic but Halo is exclusive to PC and Xbox while Ratchet & Clank is only for PlayStation players.
