Live out your space pirate or rebel scum fantasies in No Man’s Sky Outlaws

Earlier this week the official Twitter account for No Man’s Sky / Sean Murray tweeted out an emoji of a pirate crossbones flag. This got the internet excited about some potential space pirate shenanigans for the game, and that has now been revealed in another new and free expansion called Outlaws.

Continuing this trend of using emojis, we get a bullet list using them of the top new additions for this, the 19th big update to the game:

“????‍☠️Outlaw Space Stations
????Cloth Simulation
????Outlaw Story
????Smuggling
????Solar Ship
????Recruit Wingmen
????Planetary Frigates
????Improved Space Combat
????Forged Passports
????More Ship Slots
☠Bounty Missions
????Planetary Pirate Raids.”

The titular outlaw stations and story missions finally give No Man’s Sky players the opportunity to live out their true space fairing scallywag fantasies with lots of combat and raiding of starships.

“A new series of missions leads players towards pockets of rebellion, where they’ll find an underworld offering pirate missions, black-market technology, and a chance to acquire valuable goods illegal elsewhere in the galaxy. Like-minded players can even acquire a forged passport that will allow them by-pass the authorities,” the update reads.

Continuing with illegal activities and there’s a smuggling system that allows for contraband to be purchased in outlaw systems. This can result in big rewards or trouble with Sentinels.

Pirates, rebels and everyone else will also be happy to know that there are now extra slots for cargo inventories and the maximum ship count has been increased from six to nine.

The full patch notes for Outlaws can be found here but it comes with two warnings: first is that, for those wanting to experiencing everything fresh, you will spoil yourself on some of the new content.

Secondly the website which developer Hello Games uses to showcase these updates is made horribly and if you keep scrolling on this page your GPU usage will shoot up to 100 percent. Take caution and don’t stay on the page for too long.

To get a quick taste of what’s new we also have a short trailer for Outlaws, which you can watch below.
