New dev Skydance New Media is making a Star Wars game

There’s yet another Star Wars game in the works this time in the hands of Skydance New Media.

You may have heard about this new developer when it formed in 2019 with one of its key players being Amy Hennig who holds the role of President at the company. Hennig is probably best known for her long tenure at Naughty Dog (more than a decade according to LinkedIn) where she was the Creative Director and Lead Writer on the Uncharted series as well as the Game Director for Jak 3, among many other things.

Hennig and the rest of the Skydance New Media team will be working on a Star Wars game that is said to be an action-adventure title with a focus on narrative. That sounds a lot like Uncharted to us but it also describes countless other games so this could be anything really.

We’re not given any concept art or trailers to go off of and we don’t even have a title for this game, so everything is up in the air right now.

“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly. I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love,” Hennig writes.

Lucasfilm Games, as you may imagine, is also involved here with the project called a collaboration between it and Skydance.

Aside from its formation in 2019, Skydance New Media also made news in October 2021 when it announced a partnership with Marvel. We haven’t seen anything of that game since then but it’s been labelled as a “narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game, featuring a completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe”.

With two massive IPs under its belt only time will tell what this new studio can deliver.

Returning back to Hennig’s LinkedIn and this is far from the first time she has worked on a Star Wars game in the last few years. For almost four years she was the Creative Director and Lead Writer on a Star Wars title by Visceral Games. This was known as “Project Ragtag” and has since be cancelled. It will be interesting to see if anything from that game is brought into the new project.
