The Skywalker Saga beats LEGO records, sells 3.2 million copies.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga now has the best ever launch for a LEGO game according to publisher Warner Bros..

“Warner Bros. Games’ LEGO® Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the latest LEGO Star Wars title featuring all nine Skywalker saga films in one brand new game, has surpassed all previous LEGO console game launches. The game has sold through 3.2 million units globally in its first two weeks and has exceeded sales records across every platform, region, and edition. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga launched on April 5 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, PlayStation 5 (PS5), PlayStation 4 (PS4) consoles, and Nintendo Switch,” a press release reads.

We’ve been seeing the game succeed on its own through third parties but now we have at least one official number indicating the success of the game so far.

There’s a lot of reasons why it has drawn in so many sales with one being the nostalgia factor for the past LEGO Star Wars games which many people still think of fondly, on top of the general love of both Star Wars and LEGO.

Warner Bros. and developer TT Games also made buying the game ahead of time appealing by offering a physical “Blue Milk” Luke Skywalker minifigure as well as some extras depending on the region. Here in South Africa, for example, a small LEGO set of Poe Dameron’s white and orange X-wing was also included as a pack-in bonus.

The Luke Minifigure is now mostly sold out but we do want to mention that there are rumours that official LEGO stores – which we have a few of in South Africa – will also be offering this minifigure as a gift with purchase for the upcoming Star Wars Day (4th May) this year.

Back to the digital stuff, however, and you can also read our review for more insight into this title.

For those who have already played the game or those planning to jump in, there is still some extra content on the way.

“Adding to the expansive roster of playable characters in the game, Warner Bros. Games released the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the Classic Characters Pack for all platforms this week. The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Character Pack includes Jyn Erso, Bodhi Rook, Cassian Andor, K-2SO, Chirrut Îmwe, Baze Malbu and Director Krennic. The Classic Characters Pack includes classic variants of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Darth Vader and Lando Calrissian. Both packs are available for standalone purchase and as part of the Character Collection (Season Pass), which contains all seven downloadable content packs with playable characters from across the Star Wars galaxy,” the press release continues.
