The weird world of Bugsnax is coming to Game Pass

If you’ve been intrigued by the weirdness of Bugsnax, but not enough to pull the trigger on a purchase, well your patience has paid off as the game is coming to Game Pass on 28th April.

Subscribers to Game Pass on Xbox consoles, PC and cloud will get access to the game later this month, as revealed by the official Xbox Wire news site.

“If you’re not familiar, Bugsnax is a first-person adventure game where you collect kinda-bug, kinda-snak creatures and feed them to your friends. You play as a journalist following the trail of lost explorer Elizabert Megafig to Snaktooth Island, where she discovered Bugsnax before mysteriously disappearing. The only way to track her down is to catch tons of Bugsnax and feed them to Lizbert’s scattered band of misfit grumpuses. However, anybody who consumes a Bugsnak rapidly mutates into what they’ve eaten!” reads a description of the game in the announcement.

In addition to this launch, developer and publisher Young Horses is also working on a free  updated called “The Isle of Bigsnax”.

This update will add in around three hours of new content to play including story missions and side quests. The Isle of Bigsnax is home to giant Bugsnax creatures and the existing town of Snaxburg will have new challenges to complete to earn items for the player house.

The “Isle of Giant Horrors“, as it is called, is a very common trope in the world of entertainment. Off of the top of our heads we recently saw this concept in Mech Strike, a Marvel comic which sees the Avengers piloting mechs to fight monster originating from a mysterious island.

Back to Bugsnax now and the new content as well as the base game will also be accompanied by a general update.

“There are also countless quality-of-life updates, smaller story beats, and juicy secrets hidden throughout the game. For new players on Xbox, all this updated content will integrate into the game as you go. You’ll be playing a bigger and better Bugsnax right from the start!” the announcement continues.

28th April 2022 will also mark the day that the game will be released on various other platforms and stores.
