Warstride Challenges slides into Early Access on 19th April

Warstride Challenges is a new and extremely fast FPS that players will get to experience from 19th April when it launches into Steam’s Early Access.

Developed by indie outfit Dream Powered Games and published by Focus Entertainment, this isn’t just a throwback shooter with an emphasis on speed that we’ve seen such a resurgence in these past few years, but zipping around levels seems to be the core of the experience.

“Blast hordes of demons at lightning speed in bloody gunfights across a series of increasingly intense trials. Slow time to pull off impossible headshots, bunny hop to pick up speed, slide around corners and shred foes with destructive shockwaves! Die and retry to pull off the perfect run, then prove your worth on the global leaderboard to let the world know you’re the greatest demon slayer,” reads the official description.

On the comments on the Early Access trailer, which you can watch at the bottom of this story, the Titanfall 2 gauntlet is brought up as a comparison. This section of Titanfall 2 became a haven for speedrunners and casual players who wanted to try and improve their times.

Speedrunning is actually mentioned in the press release for this Early Access announcement, if there was any doubt about the emphasis on going fast.

That press release, unfortunately, doesn’t mention how long the game is planning to be in Early Access before it has a 1.0 release. Details about the plans for Early Access are usually included in the dedicated section on Steam, but the page for Warstride Challenges has this part blank for now. Hopefully this is updated soon so that buyers have more information about their purchase, and those waiting for the full release get some idea about when that will happen.

Dream Powered Games is made up of just three devs – Ludwig Dresch, Sidney Guiot and Vincent Cabanas.

“We are really happy about the partnership with Focus for the development of Warstride Challenges. Their expertise will help the project reach players from all over the world, and it is with great pleasure that we are working together, hand in hand, to create an unforgettable experience for all fast-paced FPS fans. Focus is a partner who is not scared of putting gameplay at the center of their games and this is exactly what we were looking for!” the trio write.
