Xiaomi announces inaugural Fan Festival with South Africa also involved

It looks Xiaomi is looking to capitalise on its recent local launch of the Redmi Note 11 Series in South Africa this week by announcing another initiative aimed at generating buzz in the brand, as an inaugural Fan Festival has been detailed.

The Fan Festival adds South Africa to a list of 30 markets that Xiaomi operates in and is billed as a way of giving something back to fans of the company.

As part of the festivities, Xiaomi says that there will be a chance to win one of 300 Redmi Note 11 XFF Special Edition gift packages (seen below).

“For Xiaomi Fan Festival 2022, Xiaomi is launching a special edition smartphone: Redmi Note 11 XFF Special Edition. This is an exclusive variation of one of Xiaomi’s most popular smartphones launched this year.,” the company explains in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“The gift package also contains a physical Xiaomi Fan Card, staying true to the festival’s theme of ‘All for Xiaomi Fans.’ The design inspiration came from a chipset that was used in a Xiaomi smartphone launched in 2017,” it adds.

For those wanting to win one of the aforementioned packages, Xiaomi is also leaning slightly into the NFT craze of late and giving its customers the chance to create their own Virtual Fan Card.

As part of this year’s celebrations, Xiaomi Fans are invited to showcase their unique style and personality with a Virtual Xiaomi Fan Card. They can join the online platform via mi.com, register with their Account ID, and create their very own virtual avatar,” the company says.

The creation of a Fan Card will enter you with a chance at one of the 300 gift packages.

Hopefully the announcement of the Fan Festival, along with the inclusion of South Africa, can serve as a sign that Xiaomi is aiming to strengthen its local presence.
