MultiChoice has announced that another streaming service will be available through DStv with the upcoming Disney+ to be made accessible through the Explora Ultra decoder.
Not only will the latest streaming service in South Africa be available in this unique way, but there will be no waiting period between the regular launch and the DStv launch.
“Disney+ will launch in South Africa on 18 May 2022 and will be available to DStv subscribers via the Explora Ultra decoder on the same day. MultiChoice customers with connected Explora Ultra decoders can enjoy the convenience of accessing all their entertainment needs in one central place, the benefits of exciting bundle deals and limited launch offers especially for those who are signed up to the DStv Rewards programme,” a press release sent to us reads.
South Africans are looking forward to many shows that they missed when Disney+ was not available locally, including the slew of Marvel programming, as well as Star Wars content such as The Mandalorian, Loki, WandaVision, The Book of Boba Fett and more.
The most recent of these shows is Moon Knight which has already aired several episodes and will be wrapped up by the time of the Disney+ release in SA.

We are delighted to be collaborating to bring South African DStv subscribers access to Disney+’s incredible catalogue of films, series and exclusive content,” writes Christine Service, Senior Vice President and General Manager of The Walt Disney Company Africa,
MultiChoice ends its press release stating that “subscription offers via DStv and sign-up information will be shared in due course”. We already know that Disney+ costs R119 per month in South Africa or R1 190 per year.
Recently, however, the service announced special launch pricing with a year available for just R950. It will be interesting to see if MultiChoice can offer some special deal on top of that or if it’s simply a matter of subscribers wanting to grab good pricing elsewhere and log into their accounts on the Explora Ultra.
