First post launch patch for Rogue Legacy 2 is a big one

Rogue Legacy 2 left Early Access on 28th April, but that doesn’t mean that publisher and developer Cellar Door Games has stopped working on it.

The first big patch since launch, v1.0.1, is out now and it makes some big changes to several parts of the game.

For those who played the 1.0 at launch, or at any point during the Early Access, and found the meta progression simply too difficult, you’re in luck. This portion of the game is rather important to having any chance of finishing things so we’re happy to see it updated.

“Economy Update: Much like the Relics and Traits, we’ve paid attention to where people are having trouble with collecting resources. So we’re taking another stab at where we can make changes so that people don’t feel like they’re not progressing. Basically, a bunch of stuff is now cheaper,” the patch notes read.

For Relics and Traits there are similar changes that should make things easier with both mostly receiving buffs. Again the game should be easier overall with the changes to these mechanics.

Also redesigned and buffed is one specific class: Dragon Lancers. It has been improved across the board and should be better overall.

Aside from changing game design aspects, technical issues and bugs have been fixed up too with the big one being controller joystick problems which may cause the player character to turn when they’re not meant to. This has apparently been fixed so if you’ve experienced this before jump back in.

The full patch notes for v1.0.1 can be found here, but should be avoided if you’re completely new to the game or have intentions to pick it up in the future. The notes themselves aren’t particularly spoiler heavy, but this is the type of game to go in completely blind.

Looking through the notes and everything here is very welcome, especially that big economy update. From experience, around the mid point of the game, getting upgrades can become a disheartening grind that we’re happy to see lessened.

Finally Steam Trading Cards are no implemented too.

For those who want to jump into Rogue Legacy 2, the game is still discounted by 20 percent until 9th May.

Our review of the launch version of the game is a great place to start if you’re on the fence.
