Gotham Knights Nightwing sure looks like a Mortal Kombat character

Gotham Knights has popped up again this time with a quick trailer of Nightwing, but things look a bit familiar here.

As a way to show off some of the skins that players can use in the game, the appearance of Nightwing changes throughout.

The skin you see above… it’s just Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat, right?

Yes we know that the design of Sub-Zero and several Mortal Kombat characters are based on caricatures of Asian culture and the Western concept of a ninja, but if you make a character blue and give them that kind of look we can’t help but wonder why Sub-Zero is beating up thugs in Gotham.

Speaking of beating up thugs and Nightwing does a bit of that here. Like many incarnations of this character we see Dick Grayson’s acrobatic background in his fighting style with a lot of flips and high flying melee.

This trailer compliments a previous one which focused on Red Hood and Robin which you can check out if you want to know why all these characters seem to be using gliders from Fortnite.

This just leaves Batgirl to have her own dedicated video which we’re interested to see after the minor backlash the game received around her in-universe backstory.

We can’t help but feel that maybe this trailer was meant to be Nightwing and Batgirl together but Warner Bros. cut her out because of that backlash.

Gotham Knights is planned for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox One and PC on 25th October. The previous generation ports were dropped by Warner Bros. so it’s only owners of the current gen consoles and PC which will be able to play this one.

Those with a lot of money to burn can also consider the Collector’s Edition. While we’d usually recommend against buying such an extravagant version on an untested game, we can see the main selling point of the Collector’s Edition – a statue of Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood and Batgirl – appealing to general DC Comics fans outside of the game.
