Steam Deck production ramps up amid high sales

For those still wanting to buy a Steam Deck there’s good news as Valve announced that production of the handheld PCs has increased significantly.

As June comes to a close Valve has revealed that Q2 emails are all but sent out and the Q3 emails will start going out from the last day of the month.

For those unfamiliar with the system involving emails: those who want to buy a Steam Deck need to place a reservation on Steam. When a unit becomes available for them to buy a reservation email will go out which contains a unique link allowing them to make a purchase.

These emails have been going out in batches according to when those reservations were placed.

This system was created to drip feed devices into the market as production ramps up to meet massive demand while also, hopefully, ensuring that resellers and bots don’t scoop up all the stock.

“Hello! Some great news on the production front. We just sent the last batch of Q2 emails, and we’ll start sending Q3 reservation emails on the 30th. Production has picked up, and after today we’ll be shipping more than double the number of Steam Decks every week!” the official account writes on Twitter.

“If you’re expecting your email and haven’t received it yet, give it some time to make its way through the internet. Or just go to https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck (while logged in) to check your reservation status.”

The promise of double the amount of orders going out every week is a big one, especially as the Steam Deck has been at the top of the sales charts on Steam for the last month.

We’re also hopeful that this increase means a better chance of the Steam Deck finally coming to other countries. Valve has been drip feeding more countries availability but many places on Earth – including here in South Africa – still don’t have access.

Greater country availability was promised by the end of 2022, so we’re crossing fingers to hear more then.
