We should get our first proper look at the new Modern Warfare II next week

In recent years the announcement of a new Call of Duty game has proved divisive, particularly as things became stale and formulaic with newer releases.

When you factor in that publisher Activision is embroiled in several toxic culture issues behind the scenes, there may not be as much fervour for a new game as there was before.

It is why the sequel to a remake in the form of a new Modern Warfare II might not be the answer to revitalise the franchise. That said, a good trailer might be enough to stoke interest again, and we are set to receive just that next week on 8th June at 19:00.

Activision served up a live action teaser trailer last night that did not offer much other than to confirm that a worldwide reveal is happening in a few days time. Hopefully when said reveal takes place a sizeable chunk of gameplay will also be served up, alongside closer looks at series favourites like Simon “Ghost” Riley.

Either way developer Infinity Ward, which was tapped up to create this remake, has its work cut out, especially to win over jaded fans of the franchise that have been biding their time in the battle royale world of Warzone.

Speaking of which, Infinity Ward is also said to be working on a significant update of the online multiplayer title.

If you like what you see next week, the Modern Warfare II remake is currently slated to launch on 28th October.
