God of War Ragnarok Collector’s Edition sells out in South Africa

It has been a hectic morning for South African fans of God of War as pre-orders opened for physical copies of Ragnarok only for the most expensive versions of it to sell out almost instantly.

These top of the range variants are the Collector’s Edition for R3 499 and the Jotnar Edition for R4 499.

The big ticket item in each is a 16 inch (40.64 centimetre) replica of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir and then the two vary on the extra physical items and digital contents.

Here’s a long list of what is in the more expensive Jotnar Edition which includes the most content direct from Sony:

Physical items:

  • “Printed voucher code for the full God of War Ragnarok game on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
  • 7-Inch Vinyl Record with music by Bear McCreary – This includes two tracks from composer Bear McCreary.
  • The Falcon, Bear, and Wolf Pin Set – Representing Faye, Kratos, and Atreus respectively, this pin set symbolizes our heroes’ family.
  • The Legendary Draupnir Ring – A ring from Norse Mythology, the Legendary Draupnir Ring comes in a red cloth bag.
  • Brok’s Dice Set – This dice set comes with a metallic silver finish with blue detailing. The dice bag features the Huldra Brothers’ brand.
  • Yggdrasil Cloth Map – This cloth map shows each of the Nine Realms within the branches and roots of Yggdrasil.
  • A Steelbook Display Case (no game disc included)
  • 2” Vanir Twins Carvings
  • 16” Mjölnir Replica.”

Digital items:

  • “Kratos Darkdale Armor
  • Atreus Darkdale Attire (cosmetic)
  • Darkdale Blades Handles for the Blades of Chaos
  • Darkdale Axe Grip for the Leviathan Axe
  • Official God of War Ragnarok Digital Soundtrack
  • Dark Horse Digital Mini Artbook
  • Avatar Set
  • PlayStation 4 Theme.”

BT Games, Koodoo, Raru and Nexus have all sold out their stock at the time of writing.

We have a rough timeline of how long it took South Africans to drain the stock and it’s less than an hour between the announcement email from BT Games and the items no longer being available for purchase.

Right now we’re unsure if any further stock will come to the country, but, usually these kinds of items are allocated once and never made available again.

Hopefully the quick sales of the available stock are an indicator of huge demand for these products and more stock will be made and shipped to meet it.

For more on each see an official unboxing video from Sony below.
