God of War Ragnarok set for PS5 and PS4 release on 9th November

We now have an official release date for God of War Ragnarok.

After suffering a few setbacks and delays, the team at Santa Monica Studio have confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 epic will land on the PS5 and PS4 come 9th November 2022.

Accompanying the news is a new CG trailer for the game called Father and Son. While this is not in-game footage, it does set the scene for the next chapter in the Kratos and Atreus saga.

That said, Santa Monica Studio has shared some screenshots for the game in a PlayStation blog post, although none of them appear to spoil any key elements for Ragnarok.

“We’re thrilled be able to share our release date and the brand-new God of War Ragnarök – Father and Son CG Trailer with all the God of War fans who have been eagerly awaiting news. We hope you’ve enjoyed a glimpse at some of the dangers Kratos and Atreus could find themselves up against as Ragnarök approaches,” writes Grace Orlady, Sr. Community manager at Santa Monica Studio.

At the time of writing, it is unclear how much the PS5 and PS4 iterations of God of War Ragnarok will fetch, but pre-orders are set to start in selected regions come 15th July, with some of the different editions as well as their respective in-game and real world cosmetics found here.

With Elden Ring considered by many to be the game of the year already, it will be interesting to see how God of War Ragnarok stacks up not only to that title, but its own successful successor too.

One thing that is at least comforting is the fact that we should not expect any more delays, with the different editions of the game readying for pre-order too.
