Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC: What does it cost in South Africa?

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered has gone live for pre-order on Steam and the Epic Games Store revealing much about the PC port of the title, starting with its localised price.

In the US the game, despite originally launching in 2018, will retain the “new game price” of $60. At the time of publication $60 converts to around R1 028.

Thankfully localised pricing is here to make things cheaper with both PC stores selling Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for R699.

Sometimes localised pricing is the same as the US price with no change at all when it comes to South Africa, so we’re happy to see this lower entry point to better match the market.

Along with pre-orders opening up we also learn more about the technical side of the game thanks to Mike Fitzgerald, Core Technology Director at Insomniac Games.

On the PlayStation Blog, Fitzgerald points out key tech like Ray-traced reflections, NVIDIA Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing (DLAA), Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), uncommon display ration support (21:9 and 32:9) and more.

“Many other rendering systems are more customizable than they have been in the past, with additional quality levels and algorithmic options. These include SSAO, texture filtering, LoD quality, shadows, and more. We support windowed, full screen, and exclusive full screen rendering modes,” Fitzgerald writes.

Some of these features are shown off in the short trailer below. Unfortunately Twitter’s infamous compression doesn’t make it the best viewing experience. The same trailer is also on Steam and the Epic Games Store links mentioned earlier, so maybe watch it there.

Fitzgerald also provides us with a table of what PC specs will be required to run Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered.

More than that we’re also provided with expected average performance in five different hardware configs.

This is hands down the best way to outline PC specs as it gives players a fair idea of the performance instead of simply listing minimum and recommended hardware.

Looking at the table and there’s nothing too surprising with a Nvidia GTX 950 at the bottom end of the GPU pile for 720p at 30 FPS. As 1080p at 60 FPS remains the gold standard for PC it also has modest requirements with the venerable Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 listed in this slot.

The GTX 1060 continues to be the most popular GPU on Steam by a huge margin with 6.82 percent of the entire market share on Steam, so it’s a good move to target this graphics card.
