Smite continues partnership with Nickelodeon

The latest in the world of crossovers is Smite X Nickelodeon with new skins for playable deities in the game going live on 12th July.

Those who keep on eye on crossovers may remember that Smite has already crossed paths with Nickelodeon in the past.

Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – both Nickelodeon properties – have similarly been inserted into Smite in the past.

While the companies involved may be similar the approach to this crossover is different to the previous ones as it includes characters from several franchises instead of pulling from just one.

“This is our first crossover that includes characters from multiple completely different shows, which presented an interesting challenge to the team. For example: how do you turn a feisty musket-toting Tanuki (Danzaburou) into a shirt-wearing, tv-watching Wallaby (Rocko)? By turning the musket into a remote control, of course! We wanted to design every character in a way that did their Nickelodeon origins justice,” explains
A.J. Walker, Designer Director at Smite maker Titan Forge Games.

To that end five Nickelodeon characters will become skins for five Smite deities:

  • Danny Phantom as Janus
  • Rocko as Danzburou
  • XJ9 as Freya
  • Powdered Toastman as Gilgamesh
  • Invader Zim as Cupid

“Plus, players can unlock a dozen free Nickelodeon cosmetic rewards like the meme-worthy smashing Global Emote or Gir Jump Stamp, just by playing Smite games and completing quests,” Walker continues.

To accompany this news we also get a nice little trailer which mixes the animation styles of the various cartoons with that of Smite.
