Start your next desktop build right with an FSP product

With the price of PC components finally coming down many people will be looking to upgrade their desktop PCs or maybe even start an entirely new build.

While there are many ways to start a desktop build, local distributor Syntech recommends looking at the power supply (PSU) as the foundation of your PC.

Syntech recently launched its PCBuilder tool which allows anyone to plan out and assemble their PC. It’s this experience which has lead Syntech to recommend FSP PSUs.

Making a media PC or mid range desktop PC which has a lower power draw? Consider the FSP HV Pro 550W or the FSP Hydro Pro K 600W. Both options are non-modular with 80 Plus ratings for efficiency, making them the workhorses of the PSU world. It also means faster installation and turnaround

Both also have 120mm fans which are large and silent. Those who want to put a PC in the living room or bedroom will appreciate these quieter options.

As you increase your need for capacity FSP still has options in the aforementioned Hydro Pro range that continues to offer features like high durability capacitors, 120mm fans, DC-to-DC Module Design and more for a superior experience.

The FSP Hydro Pro M 700W Semi-Modular, FSP Hydro Pro Series 800W Non Modular and FSP Hydro G Pro 850W Fully Modular power supplies are all available in South Africa.

In the past these higher wattages were seen as unnecessary, but as CPUs and especially GPUs continue to brute force more performance by using more power, these larger units make more sense.

The FSP Hydro G Pro 850W Fully Modular pictured above is, of course, the top dog in the PSUs we’re looking at today and it offers some great extra features on top of its higher power. Our favourite again deals with noise as the fan will not spin up under 30 percent of load.

A case to put it all in

While we’ve focused on the fantastic FSP PSUs up until now, every desktop PC needs a case and FSP has you covered again.

The FSP CMT260 ATX is a mid-sized gaming chassis made out of steel with a translucent, tempered glass side panel attached with a screwless design.

The timeless black aesthetic can either be continued with similar components for a stealthier look or more colourful hardware can be chosen for the sake of contrast.

With this case you can fit ATX, Micro ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards inside along with support for graphics cards up to 325mm in length. To cool all your components, air or liquid cooling will be equally accounted for thanks to ample space and mounting points.
