Warhammer 40,000: Darktide delayed with two launch dates

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has been delayed, again, with this newest release date change setting itself apart as the game splits into two launch days.

This is because Darktide will now launch first on PC (Steam and Windows Store) and then will come to Microsoft consoles (Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S) at a later, unspecified date.

Planned to release on 13th September across all supported platforms, the game will instead launch on 30th November for PC and then some time after on Xbox with no date provided right now.

“Delaying a game is perhaps one of the most difficult decisions a developer faces and one we are not excited about making. Still, we hope this speaks to our commitment to taking the time necessary and doing whatever it takes to get you the best possible game,” writes developer and publisher Fatshark.

“While we have been humbled by the great feedback on the game so far, we also need more time to improve stability, performance, and to mature key systems. Each is critical to making sure we have the best possible experience for you, the players.”

This is actually the second time the game has been delayed. Originally planned for a release some time in late 2021, it was pushed into 2022 and given the aforementioned 13th September 2022 release date some time later.

Like this delay, no external reason was given for the change other than the studio requiring more time to finish the game.

Those disappointed with the second delay are given the consolation prize of possibly playing the game ahead of time in upcoming betas and public tests. The signup page for these is available here and simply requires an email address to get started.

According to the attached FAQ on this page the testing is planned to start as soon as the middle of August though we’re not sure if that will stay on track with this delay.
