Back in May Land Rover revealed its new Range Rover Sport with an impressive spillway climb video in Iceland. It served to showcase the capabilities of the vehicle, which is not only fast, but quite capable when it comes to off roading too.
A few months later and now Land Rover has confirmed the recommended pricing for the different models of Range Rover Sport, with the company also expecting vehicles to hit roads in October this year.
As anticipated for a luxury SUV that can give most sports cars a run for their money in terms of speed, the new Range Rover Sport does not come cheap, with pricing starting from R2 million.
“The full line-up comprises 10 model derivatives with a choice of four engines, including an extended range electric hybrid, six-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel options, and an all-new V8 Twin Turbo. In 2024, the New Range Rover Sport line-up will evolve with the addition of a fully electric model,” explains Land Rover in a press release sent to Hypertext.
The car maker has talked up the hybrid models in the aforementioned 10 variants, but we are more interested in the top of the line offering if we are honest.
“The new flagship V8 Twin Turbo produces 390kW for the most exhilarating Range Rover Sport character, accelerating from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds with Dynamic Launch engaged and bringing an added level of visceral excitement to the line-up. The V8 model, badged as P530, will be available in limited numbers with fewer than 60 units allocated to South Africa,” adds Land Rover.
As such, the V8 Twin Turbo option is rapid off the mark which is mightily impressive given the size and weight of the vehicle.
