Musk’s legal team subpoenas former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey

The saga involving Elon Musk and his desire to back out of a deal to buy Twitter that he initiated, shows no signs of ending anytime soon as his legal team has issued an exhaustive list of subpoenaed witnesses it plans to question.

One of the most interesting among them is former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who is said to be a big fan of Elon Musk given their shared love of cryptocurrencies and his belief that Musk is the right man to help “steer” Twitter in the right direction.

As The Verge rightly points out, given the pair’s closeness, it is unclear what information Dorsey would share under oath that he would not be able to share in direct messages with Musk.

That said, Musk’s basis for pulling out of the Twitter deal has been the accuracy regarding the reporting of spam bots on the social media platform. This is a point that Musk believes has not been fully disclosed by the company, after he used a simple bot checking tool as the foundation of his argument.

With that test alone not enough to stand up in court to stop an estimated $44 billion deal, Musk’s legal team are likely looking for Jack Dorsey to add credence to the claims that Twitter has been grossly misrepresenting its bot numbers.

Whether that is indeed the intent behind the subpoena remains unclear, as is Dorsey’s desire to testify to that fact, given that he is a co-founder and served as CEO for many years at Twitter, ostensibly meaning the buck stopped with him when it came to accurate bot reporting.

Regardless of what is revealed, this pending legal battle could give the average person some insight into how the sausage is made at Twitter, as we saw with the Apple vs. Epic proceedings.
